Man arrested after boy falls from balcony at USA shopping centre

Bloomington Police Chief Jeff Potts

'A monster of a man threw him from a 3rd floor balcony at the mall, he is fighting to stay with us every second'.

A fundraising page was set up to help the family with their hospital costs which has now racked up over $330,000 and is rising by the minute. "Oh my God, my baby, someone threw him over the edge,"' Brian Johnson told WCCO.

According to Potts, witnesses told police the person suspected of pushing or throwing the child 'took off running immediately after the incident'. Potts also pointed out that there had been prior convictions, and said that Aranda had previously been on a trespass notice at the Mall of America but that such notices usually expire after six-month or one-year increments - Aranda's prior arrests were in 2015.

"But when you add in the element that this was a 5-year-old child - it makes it very, very hard on everybody that was involved", he said. "We have removed his picture as there have been multiple people trying to copy this GoFundMe page and the family is still requesting privacy and has elected at this point not to share photos at this time".

Emmanuel Deshawn Aranda, 24, of Minneapolis, was arrested at the mall's transit station after the attack and is jailed on a suspicion of attempted homicide charge.

Police were called to the Mall of America in Bloomington this morning after the man, who is not thought to be of any relation, allegedly threw Landen from the balcony. Police still do not believe there was any connection between the family and Aranda.

One Man Dead, Another Critical After Melbourne Nightclub Shooting
March was the deadliest month for shootings in Victoria in a decade, figures from the Coroners Court of Victoria show. The footpath on Chapel St has just been closed due to trail of blood up to where one of the victims was found.

Potts said, emphasizing that police believe this to be an 'isolated incident'. "The family and this child are in our thoughts and prayers, and I know the family appreciates all the thoughts and prayers that they can get from the public.as they hope for a full recovery of their child". We know that this is a concerning event for all of us. Police say both the victim and Aranda live in the Twin Cities.

In a statement Friday afternoon, the mall's management acknowledged the incident.

An employee from the Bare Minerals store went on to tell police that Aranda had "walked into the store, and without saying anything, swept his hand across a display table, knocking off and breaking two containers of lip gloss valued at $18.00 each and three shot glasses valued at $2.00 each", the outlet reported.

Aranda was banned from the mall for one year.

The complaint says Aranda approached a woman who was waiting for the restaurant to open and asked her to buy him something.
