Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill under investigation for alleged battery

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill rushes during the second half of an NFL football game against the Cleveland Browns Sunday Nov. 4 2018 in Cleveland

According to the Kansas City Star and confirmed by the Kansas City Chiefs, Chiefs receiver Tyreek Hill is under investigation for an alleged battery. According to Overland Park police, the original report was closed three days later when prosecution was declined.

The police report is dated Thursday, but it's unclear when the incident actually took place. The Star obtained a police report from the Overland Park (Kansas) Police Department listing a juvenile as the victim, and a source told the Star the incident was against Hill's son and resulted in a broken arm.

As of Friday, Hill has not been charged with a crime.

"The club is aware of the investigation involving Tyreek Hill", the Chiefs said in their statement to the Star.

Hill's name is not listed on the most recent battery report, but his address is the listed location. He was accused of punching and choking his girlfriend while a student at Oklahoma State University and later convicted of domestic assault.

Following the incident with Espinal, Hill went to therapy and went to counseling for anger management.

"I just want everybody to understand that we have done our due diligence with regards to full vetting each one of our draft-class members", former Chiefs GM John Dorsey said after drafting Hill, per the Star.

By pleading guilty, Hill avoided jail time and was given probation with a three-year deferred sentence.

Hill completed his probation in August, causing the domestic-abuse charges to be dismissed and his record to be expunged.

Eyebrows raised earlier this National Football League offseason when rumors swirled that the Kansas City Chiefs were interested in acquiring superstar skill-position players like Le'Veon Bell and Antonio Brown.
