Storm Erik to hit Limerick as Met Eireann issues nationwide wind warning

Persistent and heavy rain is expected as a rapidly deepening area of low pressure passes to the north of Scotland.

The Road Safety Authority has advised road users to exercise caution on roads while the warnings are in place.

This is also sometimes known as a weather bomb.

Met Éireann said: "Increasingly windy overnight, with south to southwest winds increasing strong to gale force and gusty by morning".
