Trump actively hid info on meetings with Putin from top officials

Where the investigations into U.S. President Donald Trump stand

President Trump was so intent on keeping his chats with Vladimir Putin secret, he once made his interpreter turn over his notes and promise to never discuss them, current and former USA officials told The Washington Post.

This is a breaking news and developing story.

"Why not release the conversation that you had with President Putin in Helsinki along with some other stuff?" he was asked by Fox News following the damaging report by The Washington Post.

Trump has even gone so far as to take his interpreter's notes at the end of one meeting, the Post reported, citing current and former USA officials.

U.S. officials have said it means there is no detailed record, even in classified files, of five of Trump's face-to-face interactions with Putin over the last two years. The FBI was concerned President Trum could be actively working for Russian Federation.

When asked by Pirro about the story, Trump said he and Putin had "a great conversation". I'm not keeping anything under wraps.

"I mean, it's so ridiculous, these people making up", Trump said, claiming the Post is a "lobbyist" for Bezos' interests.

Trump has made a number of decisions during his time as president that have benefitted Putin whilst simultaneously confounding his closest officials and advisors.

Trump did so after a meeting with Putin in 2017 in Hamburg that was also attended by then-Secretary of State Rex Tillerson. A White House spokesperson told the Post, without mentioning Hamburg specifically, that Trump "has affirmed that he supports the conclusions in the 2017 Intel Community Assessment".

"The Washington Post story is so outrageously inaccurate it doesn't even warrant a response", she said in a statement. Investigators have examined key episodes such as Trump's firing of former FBI Director James Comey and his fury over the recusal from the investigation of former Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

In 2018 Trump refused to impose sanctions on Russian Federation that were passed into law nearly unanimously past year and was created to punish Moscow's alleged meddling in the 2016 United States election.

Sanders called the report "absurd".

The Washington Post report, published on Sunday, comes two days after the New York Times disclosed that the FBI had opened an investigation into Trump's relations with Russian Federation.

"James Comey was sacked because he's a disgraced partisan hack, and his Deputy Andrew McCabe, who was in charge at the time, is a known liar fired by the FBI", Sanders said.

"And I can tell you this, if you ask the folks in Russian Federation, I've been tougher on Russian Federation than anybody else, any other ― probably any other president period", he said.

'I think it's the most insulting thing I've ever been asked, ' Trump replied.

He slammed the Times story as "the most insulting article I've ever had written and if you read the article, you'd see that they found absolutely nothing".

Special Counsel Robert Mueller III is now investigating whether Trump's campaign had ties to Russian Federation during the election, but there is no timetable when the final report will be released.

The New York Times report cited unnamed former law enforcement officials and others familiar with the investigation.

"Everyone knows there was no collusion [with Russia]", Trump added.
