Theresa May issues DEMOCRACY WARNING ahead of MP 'coup' to STOP Brexit

POLITICS Brexit

May looks little closer to securing the support she needs, but writing in the Sunday Express she said lawmakers must not let down the people who voted for Brexit.

"Mrs May said: "You, the British people, voted to leave".

"Doing so would be a catastrophic and unforgivable breach of trust in our democracy".

Corbyn declined to say whether a Labour manifesto for a snap election would promise to deliver Brexit, arguing that this would be up to party processes, but strongly indicated his preference would be to depart with a deal that keeps the United Kingdom in a customs union and with access to the single market.

Transport Secretary Chris Grayling told the Daily Mail that the party risked cheating and isolating the millions of United Kingdom citizens who voted to leave the European Union, ending its 350-year period of "moderate" politics.

But Mrs May is still facing a massive defeat in the crunch vote on Tuesday - with hardline Remainers and Brexiteers mobilising in a bid to thwart her plans.

And he warned of a "growing risk" that Parliament could frustrate Brexit, following reports of a plot to change Commons rules to enable backbench motions to take precedence over Government business if Mrs May's deal falls.

"So my message to Parliament this weekend is simple: It is time to forget the games and do what is right for our country".

Labour peer Lord Andrew Adonis, who is a prominent Remainer, slammed Grayling and in a tweet wrote: "At the end of Brexit there should a one clause bill banning Grayling from holding any further public office ... unless of course it's overturned by a people's vote".

Investigation into bus crash that killed three in Ottawa continues
OC Transpo has issued notices saying detours are in effect for the Dominion and Westboro transit stations. Paramedics said it was too early to talk about fatalities.

Under the rebels' plan, reported in the Sunday Times, the Government would lose control of parliamentary business which would threaten Brexit legislation and the Government's ability to govern.

Mrs May also came under pressure from her former Brexit secretary Dominic Raab who told MPs to vote against her deal to show Brussels that the United Kingdom would "not be bullied".

'The benefits are close to zero.

'Jumping off a cliff has never had a happy ending'.

On Monday the debate on the meaningful vote on Mrs May's deal will resume for a fourth day.

A Cabinet minister has been accused of engaging in "gutter politics" after he warned that blocking Brexit could "open the door" to "extremist" populist political forces in the UK.

Warning that there may be no consensus in the Commons around any possible outcome, the Foreign Secretary told Today: "If this deal is rejected, ultimately what we may end up with is not a different type of Brexit but Brexit paralysis".

He said the United Kingdom "must be willing to leave the European Union at the end of March on World Trade Organisation terms".

'We'd be in a stronger position, then, to continue the negotiations as an independent third country'.
