Canadian Brooke Henderson shares top spot at KPMG Women's PGA Championship

Sung Hyun Park, of South Korea, kisses the championship trophy after making a birdie on the second hole of a playoff on the 16th hole to win the KPMG Women's PGA Championship golf tournament at Kemper Lakes Golf Club in Kildeer, Ill., Sunday, July 1, 2018.

After Hataoka was eliminated on the first playoff hole, Ryu and Park both found the green on the second.

Ko added further bogeys at the 10th, 17th and 18th to offset just the sole birdie over her back nine, at the par-4 16th.

They headed Spaniard Carlota Ciganda (69) by one stroke, while New Zealander Lydia Ko matched the best score of the week (66) to vault within two shots.

Ryu finished with birdies on three of the final five holes, including a hard par-3 No. 17 that has water on three sides of a wide and contoured green along with some deep bunkers.

It has been a troublesome 2018 for the 24-year-old, who set the golf world alight last year to become the first ever LPGA Tour rookie to top the world rankings.

Watch England's Eric Dier bury the game-winning penalty kick against Colombia
Jordan Pickford's stunning save, Kieran Trippier's fearless winning penalty, Ian Wright's jubilant celebrations; it had it all. Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane proved he had nerves of steel as he scored two penalties for England against Colombia.

Henderson said: "I kind of struggled a little bit with my putter, which is disappointing, but I think just kind of get better in my head and just go out tomorrow and make a lot of good shots and see if I can make some birdies". She hit a ideal flop to 3-feet and saved par. Park once again made her birdie putt and Ryu took one more stroke, so the tournament ended with Park as the champion. But I think confidence is a huge thing for me, where the swing itself is not too different. I feel like all the work I've put in has paid off today, and that's really what made me cry. It was not the finish she was looking for at the Kemper Lakes Golf Club in Kildeer, Illinois - just outside Chicago. Hataoka missed hers, and Park, the last to putt, had to make hers to extend the playoff.

After only needing 25 putts on Thursday, the Smiths Falls pro required 31, 32, and 33, respectively, over the closing three rounds, even as she continued to hit 13-15 greens in regulation.

Heading to the 17th tee, she held a two-shot lead. The latest win is Park's second victory of this season since she won the Volunteers of America LPGA Texas Classic in May. This was her second major title and fourth career LPGA Tour win. "Definitely God helped me out there", she said.

But the malaise continued when Ko bogeyed the 7th and 8th to turn two over for her round and one under for the tournament. The 28-year-old Spaniard's best finish was third at the U.S. Women's Open this year, and if she did pull one out, she believes it would lead to greater participation back home.

Michelle Wie was 1 over after a 72.
