Otto Warmbier 'Did Not Die in Vain'

Trump says Otto Warmbier 'did not die in vain' after Korea summit

President Donald Trump said his historic summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un "would not have happened" without Otto Warmbier, the American college student who mysteriously died after being sent home from a North Korean labor camp a year ago. "It was a awful thing".

"Today I assured his dad, as the president said two days ago, their beloved son, Otto Warmbier, will not have died in vain", Pence said.

"Well, he is very talented", Trump responded.

Warmbier's mother Cindy told a United Nations symposium on the human rights situation in North Korea last month: 'I can't let Otto die in vain. I told this to his parents: A special young man, and I have to say: Special parents, special people. It was brutal. But a lot of people started to focus on what was going on, including North Korea.

The meeting took place on the one-year anniversary of Warmbier's release. I don't say it was nice, I don't say anything about it.

His parents are good friends of mine, ' Trump told reporters and a global TV audience after his nuclear summit with North Korean despot Kim Jong-un.

After assuming power, Kim Jong Un had his uncle executed by firing squad and his half-brother killed with a nerve agent in an airport in Malaysia.

The player, however, will be deciding his future only after getting done with Serbia's campaign at this year's World Cup . However, United may be put off by the Serbia international's fee, with Lazio setting an asking price of £87.5million.

The U.S. president said he raised the issue of human rights with Kim, and he believed the North Korean leader wanted to 'do the right thing.' He said the negotiations he has initiated should help improve conditions in the isolated country.

North Korean authorities arrested Warmbier in January 2016 for stealing a propaganda poster and sentenced him to 15 years of hard labor in prison.

His family has said North Korea "destroyed" him and sued North Korea alleging the "rogue regime took Otto hostage for its own wrongful ends and brutally tortured and murdered him".

Warmbier was detained on January 2, 2016, as his tour group was departing, and accused of hostile acts against the country as an agent of the U.S. government - specifically, stealing a political poster from his hotel as a "trophy".

He served 527 days of a 15-year sentence of hard labor, during which USA officials staged a surprise trip to Pyongyang last September and demanded that Pyongyang send him home on "humanitarian grounds".

The US President says he believes Kim wants to do the right thing. I told that to his parents.
