Donald Trump Has a Go at Allies After Discordant G7 Summit

Investors have called on the G7 to phase out coal generation all together

Trump was on board Air Force One when he issued a series of tweets on Saturday, attacking Trudeau who he called "very dishonest" and "weak" and apparently pulling out of the joint statement.

Trudeau also said, "The US will not allow other countries to impose massive tariffs and trade barriers on its farmers, workers and companies".

Having left the Group of Seven summit in Canada early, Trump's announcement that he was backing out of the joint communique torpedoed what appeared to be a fragile consensus on the trade dispute between Washington and its top allies.

President Donald Trump accused Prime Minister Trudeau of acting "meek and mild" during meetings at the G7 Summit, only to attack the USA at a news conference.

Asked about the president's Twitter blasts, Trudeau says June 7 that he won't sink to that level- "I've been firm, I've been clear, but I don't think descending into insults is right for the way Canada engages with the world". It also says the countries will work to promote low or no tariffs in order to promote trade between them.

Speaking to CNN today, Trump adviser Larry Kudlow says he personally negotiated with Trudeau during the two-day G7 summit in Quebec's Charlevoix region and insists the USA agreed to the language in the communique in good faith.

The European leader-famed for negotiating compromise without political histrionics-gave an uncharacteristically candid and combative assessment of relations with Trump as she spoke to German channel ARD, after last week's G-7 summit.

On Saturday, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had a fallout with Trump when he held a press conference after the latter departed Quebec to attend the North Korea summit in Singapore.

U.S. trade advisor Peter Navarro, speaking on Fox News Sunday, reinforced that message.

Trump's trade adviser Peter Navarro also lashed out on Sunday at Trudeau's statements, saying they represent "bad faith". U.S. reporters travelling on Air Force One to the far east only discovered when the plane landed on the Greek island of Crete to refuel that the president had changed his mind.

Trudeau's foreign minister responded by condemning "ad hominem attacks", and Germany and France criticised Trump's comments.

Tom Tugendhat a Conservative MP for Tonbridge and Malling said: "What is slightly surprising when you see this is that there is this idea that there is a security risk with Canada. He can't do that".

In response to Trump's tweets, the PMO released a statement shortly after that simply read, "The Prime Minister said nothing he hasn't before - both in public, and in private conversations with the President".

"Fair Trade is now to be called Fool Trade if it is not Reciprocal". According to a Canada release, they make nearly 100 Billion Dollars in Trade with US (guess they were bragging and got caught!).

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has vowed retaliatory action next month over United States tariffs on steel and aluminium. At one point he wrote, "Justin acts hurt when called out!"

"Not fair to the PEOPLE of America!"

European officials said Trump had tried to water down the language in the draft communique on the WTO and rules-based trade.

"Donald Trump has dealt a further heavy blow to the Western community of states with his behavior after the G-7 summit", said Johann Wadephul, a deputy caucus leader of Merkel's bloc.

He concluded: "Sorry, we can not let our friends, or enemies, take advantage of us on Trade anymore". He added, "We have put up with trade abuse for many decades, and that is long enough".
